The Shivas Irons Society is proud to announce a new affiliation with world renowned golf landscape artist Linda Hartough.
Ms. Hartough is the only artist ever commissioned by both the United States Golf Association and The Royal & Ancient Golf Club at St. Andrews to paint their respective Opens. Her original works are displayed in the permanent collections of such legendary clubs as Augusta National, Laurel Valley, Pinehurst and Pine Valley, as well as in the personal collections of Jack Nicklaus, Raymond Floyd, and Robert Trent Jones, Sr. The New York Times has referred to her as “the Rembrandt of the back nine.”
Linda has painted the official US Open commemorative image annually since 1990, and to begin The Shivas Irons Society’s offering of her work for sale, we are excited to announce that she has just completed her painting of the commemorative image for the 2010 US Open to be held at Pebble Beach.
Like all of Ms. Hartough’s US Open commemoratives, this one is already anxiously anticipated by collectors of golf art around the world. Because of her feelings about the Society’s connection to the same “spirit of the great gemme” that she seeks to paint, Linda has given the Society the exclusive right to display the painting and offer it for sale for the next ninety days, with a portion of the sale proceeds to be donated to support the Society’s charitable and educational activities.
In describing this stunning rendering of the 9th hole at Pebble Beach in fading evening light, Linda says, “I chose this view of the 9th and 10th holes because to me it completely expresses the Pebble Beach experience. I wanted viewers to immerse themselves into the total package - the sound of the ocean, the seaside atmosphere, Carmel, the beach, the mountains, and being in the bunker on the 9th hole and loving it all.”

The oil on linen painting (24” x 42”) is offered at $95,000 (framed 35” x 53”). The frame is custom built with corners hand cast from an actual branch of Monterey Cypress at Pebble Beach.
Please contact Steve Cohen, President of The Shivas Irons Society or Board of Directors member Richard Lees at the Society’s Carmel office to discuss terms of sale and delivery. (shivas@shivas.org or by phone 831.899.8441, or RL@shivas.org or by phone 818.760.7767)
