Kindled by Michael Murphy’s book Golf in the Kingdom, my husband and I joined the Shivas Irons Societyat its inception in 1992. I’ve always been inspired by how symbolic and metaphoric influences deepen our psychic understanding of the world around us. Golf in the Kingdom represents the oldest story known to humanity-The Hero’s Journey, as coined by scholar Joseph Campbell. Its the proverbial call to adventure, the personal doubts we hold about ourselves, the encounter with a wise sage and the discovery of our own true and noble nature that, upon our return from the journey, we share with the rest of the world.

After earning my B.A. in Communications and Public Relations from California State University, East Bay, I entered the world of wine & spirits to explore my passion for wine. I represented several California & European wineries coordinating wine events and selling wine to restaurants, country clubs and wine stores in the San Francisco Bay Area.

While living in Danville, CA I served on the Town Council’s Planning Commission’s Mission 2000studying the housing and land use in Danville and making proposals for a planned and systematic for the new millennium. Through the nineties, I served on the Board of Directors for the San Francisco World Affairs Council, chairing the East Bay Chapter & coordinating speakers and events all over the East Bay.

In 2009, I earned my Master of Arts degree in Mythology and Jungian Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate University in Santa Barbara.

Currently, I serve on the Board of Directors for Shivas Irons Society, where I'm focused on community outreach, membership development and event planning and serve in the position of Secretary. Concurrently, I also serve on the Board of Directors for the Newport Beach Public Library Foundationand I chair the Development Committee working on increasing membership and fundraising.

My husband & I share our time between Newport Beach and Carmel. My husband is an avid golfer and CEO of Spyglass Partnerships, a land development company. I have three incredible daughters and a new son-in-law: Erika, a Geneticist at NeoGen in Aliso Viejo who recently married Charles Worden, a Financial Analyst for City National Bank in Newport Beach; Hayley, an Actor living in Manhattan; and Hannah, Marketing Director for Performics Marketing based out of Chicago.

I believe golf can serve as a means of self-exploration and help us to discover our strengths and gifts that, in turn, we give back to the world. Throughout my life’s journey, I’ve held positions of leadership, team building, development and forward planning. I’m currently sharing this knowledge to strengthen both the Newport Beach Public Library Foundation and the Shivas Irons Society.
