Golf In San Diego

We were supposed to play The Crosby Club in Rancho Santa Fe on Friday, January 18, but five days of rain made the course too wet for play and we had to scramble to find another venue (or two).

Six of us played Encinitas Ranch on Friday morning. The course was damp, but the rain had finally subsided. Mark Wille even brought out his hickories and a couple of us tried them on one of the par threes.

We then kept our fingers crossed that we could play The Crosby Club on Saturday. But late Friday afternoon, we received a call from the head pro who said that the course would remain closed through the weekend. Our hosts, Kathy Sage and Peter Shapiro helped us secure three early morning tee times for Saturday at Maderas Golf Club in San Diego. Twelve of braved the cold and then the heat as the temperature ranged from 43 degrees to 80°. The course was in great condition and we all had a terrific time.
