Shivas Golf - Magic in Minnesota
September 12-13, 2026

Somerset Golf Club, Mendota, MN and White Bear Yacht Club, Dellwood, MN

Join fellow Shivas Irons Society members for two days of incomparable golf, exquisite dining and wonderful fellowship on two exclusive golf clubs just outside of St. Paul, Minnesota, on Saturday September 12 and Sunday, September 13. Your co-hosts Dr. Mark Mammel and Charlie Mahar, along with Shivas Executive Director Ben Kline are excited to spend two days of golfing magic with you. In addition to fine golf and fine dining, we'll learn about the rich golf history in the land of 10,000 lakes.

The Courses:

Somerset Country Club was founded in 1919 and was designed by legendary golf architect Seth Raynor. The course features classic template holes including Redan, Biarritz and Eden. It is a par 72 parkland style course that stretches to 6,728 yards from the tips. It has undergone renovations by notable architects including Stanley Thompson, Robert Trent Jones and Rees Jones. Somerset hosted the 1956 U.S. Senior Amateur and 1995 U.S. Senior Women's Amateur tournaments.

White Bear Yacht Club was founded in 1889 in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. In 1912, a nine hole golf course was added to the club. Several years later, the course was expanded to its current 18 holes. Famed golfers such as Harry Vardon's brother Tom and outstanding amateur golfer Jimmy Johnson shaped the legacy of WBYC. The course was originally designed by William "Willie" Watson in 1912 and with historical ties attributed to Donald Ross. It's a wildly rumpled layout and features five par 3s and five par five holes over 6,471 yards.

Cost: $850 – Includes two 18-hole green fees, and two dinners with wines chosen by our hosts. Carts and push carts are available.

Availability limited to 16 golfers including hosts

Join fellow Shivas Irons Society Members for a fall pop-up golf event during the cranberry harvest season in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Rich Coco and Richard Johansson will be hosting this inaugural New England gathering just west of Plymouth Rock at Southers Marsh Golf Course, a par 61 gem built 25 years ago around cranberry bogs - when the price of cranberries led this family of golf loving farmers to build a golf course!

The Course:

Southers Marsh Golf Course was founded in 2001 and has been rated New England’s best golf value. The atmosphere is relaxed. The course is varied and challenging with 7 par fours and 11 par threes. You’ll use every club in your bag! A great walking course (though carts are available).

Date and Details:

Sunday, October 4th 2026 with our first starting time at 12:48. (We have three tee times reserved, but will adjust for more or less based on interest).

Cost:

Green Fees are $56 walking ($72 if you’re taking a cart)

Two days of golf at Pasatiempo Golf Course in Santa Cruz, CA, a 1929 Alister MacKenzie masterpiece. Limited to six golfers.

Inspired by the teaching of Shivas Irons, together with hosts Isaac and Ben, we will work on the range, play on the course and explore true gravity.

Isaac Weintraub Ben Kline

Isaac Weintraub was born and raised in Santa Cruz, CA where he was a stand-out junior golfer. In college, he was a two time All-American at San Jose State (2000-2004). After college, Isaac competed professionally on the PGA Tour of Canada, the European Challenge Tour and the PGA Tour. His coaching career began in western Canada in 2013 where he opened three different golf schools. Isaac loves mentoring young golfers and has also coached at the college and professional levels. In his free time, Isaac still plays a lot of golf, surfs, practices yoga and enjoys time with family and friends.

Ben Kline is passionate about golf, learning and helping others. In addition to being Executive Director of the Shivas Irons Society, he is a seasoned sport psychology consultant, coach, and caddie at Pebble Beach Golf Links. Ben believes "awareness is curative", and enjoys traveling the path of nurturing awareness, presence and better performance together with Shivas Irons Society members.

Includes: coaching, range balls, 9 holes at Spring Hills and two rounds at Pasatiempo Golf Course

"The game is meant for walking!"
But if you need a cart, there's a nominal additional cost.
