The Shivas Irons Society
The Onwentsia Club takes its origins from a small seven-hole course laid out in the lawn of Senator Charles B. Farwell's estate in 1892 by legendary golf course architect C.B. Macdonald. This gem played host to the 1899 US Amateur, the 1906 US Open and the 1915 US Women's Amateur. On September 12, up to 16 fortunate Shivas Irons Society members will get to experience the majesty of this property and the exquisite taste and hospitality of our member host, Bill Vernon. The day will start with a gathering outside the clubhouse at approximately 10:15 am. We'll warm up and set off onto the course around noon. Upon our return from the links, we will unwind with drinks and hors d'oevres before sitting down for an incredible dinner with sumptuous wine hand picked by Onwentsia's sommelier and conversation to match the McNaughton's dinner in Golf In The Kingdom. Cost for this event is $540 range; we're still working the details. The experience will include morning coffee, warm-up, golf, lunch, dinner and a commemorative token. Caddie is required and please bring cash ($100 recommended gratuity) Appropriate dinner attire: sports jacket and button down shirt (nice golf shirt is acceptable).
